Hello Kentucky
We made it. We're officially on vacation. We drove about 12 hours yerterday from Ruston to Louisville. The part of the drive I was awake for was beautiful. Northern Arkansas was emerald green. Tenessee went on forever. It was almost as bad as driving across Texas. The one thing we noticed though was that there seemed to be a Cracker Barrell about every ten miles. This turned out to be a good thing however, when at 10 pm we still had not eaten dinner. We planned to eat in Nashville, but somehow we drove right through it without really noticing it's presence. Finaly, when we had crossed the Kentucky state line, we found another random Cracker Barrell and enjoyed every minute of it. (Sarah said that if we had waited and eaten at the Cracker Barrell in Elizabethtown we could have seen Amish people. Wouldn't that have been fun?)
I did get quite a few things done on the drive up. I worked on lesson plans (school startes two days after we get back.) I slept a good bit. I read some of "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants." And Andrew listened to book on cd of some political comentarty book. He seemed to enjoy it.
We will be here until Monday morning. We are planning to tour Churchhill Downs and the Maker's Mark distillery (Andrew is really excited about the fact that you can dip your own bottle.)
Bright and early monday morning we head to Troy, IL, just on the boarder to MO, to see some of my family for a day. Then on for more driving and more Shipp family visiting.
